What You Need To Know About RenArts

Welcome new students. Here is a list of things Renarts students think you need to know about our school. Here is some heartfelt advice to make your transition into RenArts easier.

  • Get used to writing a lot of essays.
  • Do not start on an essay at the last minute.
  • You must margin note every reading you get.
  • Do not be hesitant when in a group discussion.
  • Take advantage of retakes.
  • Take rehearsals seriously.
  • Re-read the readings.
  • Do not bring beverages that are not closable.
  • Cubbies are assigned, use only your assigned cubbie. These are cubbies not lockers.
  • Take study seriously it is not time to sleep or socialize. Study is your work time, use it wisely.
  • Do not chew gum, bring gum, share gum, before school, during school, after school.
  • No matter how far you are with writing you are never done.
  • Obey the dress code, drama is not appreciated.
  • Try and figure out whatever it is that's giving you trouble before you ask questions.
  • Don't talk back to advisors, you can always make your case after group.
  • Be careful with your instruments because they are very fragile.
  • Keep you hair out of your face.
  • Things change frequently so do not get comfortable.
  • Always bring all the correct supplies when you are going to an arts class, your advisors will not be happy if you don't.
  • Advisors are not your answer machines.
  • Read you summer reading.
  • You have to think when you are practicing.
  • Turn in your assignments on time.
  • Respect the restrooms.
  • Black is the color to wear at performances and field trips.
  • Don't write or sit on the tables.
  • Don' throw away any of your work, you will need it.
  • The advisors will not let you fail they will always push you to do your best.
  • There is no homework - that doesn't mean you shouldn't do your arts practice.
  • Don't whine.
  • High level thinking is required.
  • Always take things seriously during show time.
  • Missing dance or orchestra rehearsal will have consequences.
  • If you want to change your arts focus because you didn't practice your instrument or your dance, don't.
  • Check to make sure you have ink in your printer before it is due.
  • You will get better when you practice.
  • Don't peal the paint off the tables.
  • Clean up after yourself, always.
  • Be prepared in every group.
  • If your advisor is not watching you another advisor is.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Get water and go to the bathroom before the lunch bell rings.
  • Margin notes will help you with your essays.
  • Be an autonomous scholar.
  • Keep an open mind.
  • Rehearsals are not optional.
  • Be prepared for extra rehearsals.
  • Work feels good.
